Welcome to a journey through time: The Ostrobothnian Regiment – 400 Years!
From 3–5 July 2026, Oravais will be transformed into a living historical showcase. The Oravais Historical Association invites you to a grand anniversary celebration: 400 years of military history, culture and human destinies. Experience the breath of history up close as we fill the area around Furirbostället with authentic camps, exciting activities and re-enactments from the 17th century to the present day.
4:00 PM: Historical lecture – Anders Agdahl speaks about the NITWAP project.
A day for the whole family! Walk through historical camps and experience how life used to be.
Living history: Meet Caroleans, Gustavian-era reenactors, Civil Guards and modern soldiers. Watch drills, crafts and performances.
Antique & militaria market: Gamlakarleby Auktionskammare organizes a large market at the Quartermaster’s residence.
At Langradin in Vörå, parts of the historical troops can also be seen.
10:00 AM – 6:00 PM: Market & fair
1:00 PM: Regiment march-in
2:00 PM: Battle tableau and display. A historical presentation at the Quartermaster’s residence depicting military life and warfare through the centuries, as well as an introduction to the troops and the regiment’s history.
Afternoon: Open field camp for the public
Sunday 5 July: Dunckers Day and Remembrance
This day is dedicated to remembering those who shaped history.
10:00 AM: Wreath-laying ceremony and commemorative speeches honoring the fallen and the regiment’s history. Speeches by Oderth Von Essen (“The importance of the Von Essen family for the Ostrobothnian Regiment”) and Hörnefors parish priest Moa Beak.
11:00 AM: Program: Olhas Theatre – focusing on both the soldier in the field and the endurance of women on the home front (from the unrest of the 18th century to the Lotta volunteers of the 1940s). A performance that ties history together.
12:30 PM: Closing: Joint gathering, ceremonial flag nailing and acknowledgements
