Special education

Special education is available for children who need extra support or attention in some form. Every child has the right to develop at their own pace. The goal of special education is to ensure that the child can function independently and as a group member according to their individual abilities.

Preschools and special education collaborate through continuous monitoring and observations in preschool groups. When a child is assessed to need early support, it is usually the joint observations of the staff and parents that form the basis. This might relate to the child's special needs or disabilities, but also to children with minor everyday concerns (social, emotional, etc.). The earlier any difficulties are recognized, the easier it is to support the child's development.

Implementation of Special Education
In Vörå, special education is conducted within regular preschool groups in daycare centers. The municipality has several special education teachers in early childhood education and preschool who work with children needing extra support. The special education teacher, along with early childhood education and preschool staff, collaborates with school health nurses, counselors, therapists, psychologists, teachers, social workers, or other experts as needed. This is done to best meet the child's needs.
