Vörå Municipality's Sustainability Award
The municipality of Vörå aims to highlight its work towards sustainable development by awarding a sustainability prize.
The prize can be awarded to individuals, associations, organizations, or businesses actively engaged in sustainability and environmental issues. The public can submit nominations for the sustainability prize within a specified timeframe, after which the building and environmental committee selects a winner.
Criteria for the sustainability prize:
- The nominee must be from the municipality of Vörå
- The motivations should clearly demonstrate the individual’s/organization’s/association’s/business’s efforts in sustainability and environmental work
Association grants are available to support and promote the activities of associations and can be applied for:
- children and youth activities
- sports activities
- cultural activities
- associations with a social focus
- village activities (village councils that are not registered associations may be granted support for village councils).
Association grants also include project grants that can be applied for new projects aimed at achieving specific results and that are not part of the association's regular activities.
We recommend that you read Association Grants - Guidelines and Criteria and Municipal Strategy before filling out the application.
Registered associations with Vörå as their home location, associations that conduct activities in Vörå, or have a large number of members from Vörå can apply for grants.
In an association with multiple sections or workgroups, grants are applied for collectively through the main association.
A newly formed association must have submitted its registration application by the end of June the previous year to be eligible for a grant.
- The activities should be clearly and explicitly described in both the operational plan and the report. It is also important that the activities support and complement the municipality's strategic initiatives and promote well-being, quality of life, and social sustainability.
- Regular, guided activities for children and youth that create opportunities for an active and creative leisure time are prioritized.
- The association's activities and events are marketed through both the association's own and the municipality's communication channels (Ostrobothnia's events calendar and Municipal Bulletin), as this increases the opportunities for residents to participate in community life.
- Activities and events must be alcohol-free to be eligible for association grants.
- The pursuit of developing and renewing the activities is viewed positively.
- An assessment of the association's financial position, self-financing, and other support from external sources is conducted. The grant is calculated as a percentage of reported costs based on the allocated funds and the number of applications.
- Association grants and support are awarded only once per calendar year for the same purpose.
Applications are made electronically. The application opens on March 1, 2025, and closes on March 31, 2025, at 4:00 PM. Late applications will be rejected.
If the applicant needs support and assistance with the electronic application, the leisure office can be contacted.
Associations that have been granted project funding must inform the leisure office by August 31 if they intend to carry out the project in accordance with the project application approved by the Quality of Life Committee.
Approved project funds are paid out in full only after an approved report has been submitted. The report should be sent to the leisure office by October 31. If the report is not submitted within the set time frame, the payment of the project grant may be suspended (it is possible to apply for an extension for the report submission, but this must be done before 10/31).
