THEME: SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION
Sustainable Consumption is part of the core content I6 in environmental studies for grade 2:
- "Consider the impact of one's own actions on oneself, others, and the immediate environment."
The goals related to I6 in environmental studies for grade 2 are:
- M1 provide the student with opportunities to express their natural curiosity and help them realize that the content of environmental studies is important for them
- M3 support the student in developing an environmental awareness and guide them to act sustainably in their local environment and at school
- M8 guide the student to act in a safe and secure manner, follow given instructions, and understand their rationale
- M11 guide the student to use information and communication technology to search for information, as well as document and present observations
- M13 help the student understand simple images, models, and maps that describe the environment
K1: "Students should also be encouraged to question their observations and notice that information can sometimes be contradictory and unclear."
K3: "Students' consumption habits should be discussed, and they should learn to critically engage with advertising and media. They should be provided opportunities to consider how they can influence their own spending. Students should be guided towards critical consumption habits and encouraged to reflect on what thriftiness, moderation, and environmental awareness mean for consumer choices and their own actions."
