Support and Help

As a child or young person in Vörå, you can receive help and support in various ways, either from people working in the municipality or through different websites on the internet. On this page, we've gathered various places where you can find support. Remember, you are never alone, there is support and help available!

School counselor and school psychologist

School Counselor

The role of the school counselor is to support you as you attend school and feel the need to speak with someone about difficulties at school or issues happening at home and during your free time.

The school counselor can help you with:
- Conversations about friendships or feeling left out
- Questions about your identity
- Relationship concerns
- Worry, anxiety, depression, and fears.
- If you're worried about someone else.

The counselor can, if necessary, collaborate with others within student welfare to solve problems or guide you to others who can help.

Your parents can also contact the school counselor if they are concerned about you.

Expert in Developmental Psychology (Advisor)

The advisor can assist you with questions regarding your mental health. Among other things, you can get help with:
- Difficulties related to school or learning
- Low school motivation
- Getting through periods of heavy thoughts
- Managing tension, worry, and anger

Part of the advisor's tasks also includes helping you find further support if needed and guiding parents and school staff in questions about youth development and available support.

You can primarily contact through the school nurse and counselor.

Ninni conversation group in Vörå

Are you between 11 and 18 years old and have someone close to you who is struggling with addiction or mental health issues? Vörå continues to offer the Ninni support group – a safe space where you can share your thoughts and feelings with others who understand what you're going through. The group provides support and tools to help you cope with the challenges that can arise when someone close to you is dealing with alcohol, drug, or mental health problems.

You don’t have to share in the group – you decide how much you want to say or if you’d rather say nothing at all. We're here to listen and help, and you can feel safe with us.

Group Ground Rules
  • Confidentiality – What is said in Ninni stays in Ninni, and we don’t share who participates in the group.
  • Safety – Just because you've shared one thing doesn’t mean you have to share more. Everyone should feel safe coming to Ninni's groups, whether to listen or to talk.
  • The reason we gather – Everyone in Ninni has experience with addiction and/or mental health issues in the family.
  • Your own story – Everyone gets to share in the Ninni group. We listen to each other, and everyone gets to speak their mind.

The Ninni group will also continue this spring and will meet on Mondays at Astragården, Vöråvägen 16 (Bio Astra)

Someturva

Someturva – Support for Online Bullying

Someturva is a web-based application that allows you to quickly get support if you experience online bullying, harassment, or threats on social media or gaming platforms. This service is designed so that you can easily ask for help in unwanted situations that may arise online, and you can do it completely anonymously. The service is available for all municipal children and youth in grades four through nine.

It’s a good idea to activate Someturva on your mobile phone before any issues arise. That way, you can feel secure and know where to get immediate help if something unpleasant happens. More information on how to activate the service can be obtained through the school.
