Information about children in early childhood education

An individual early childhood education plan is created for each child at a daycare center. The plan is developed together with the guardians and the child. This plan helps highlight each child's strengths and resources, as well as any individual needs. The child's early childhood education plan is an educational plan detailing how the individual child will be considered in the early childhood education activities. The plan is reviewed regularly.

It is important for the child/children to first get to know their new unit and environment together with one or both guardians. The units prepare a varied diet, and children are encouraged to try everything. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are served (timing may vary slightly between units). At our facilities, we go outdoors in all weather conditions, so it is important for the child/children to have appropriate clothing to prevent them from getting cold. The child/children should have practical clothes and bring extra clothes as a backup.

Päikky is the electronic system used by early childhood education for registering children's attendance and planning care schedules. Bookings must be made by Sunday at midnight, 7 days in advance. Each child has a monthly quota agreed upon with the unit, and the agreed hours can be used flexibly per month for planning. Päikky is also the official communication channel from Vörå municipality/unit to the guardians.

Instructions for getting started with Päikky can be found here.

Frequently asked questions about Päikky can be found here.

In Varda, information is collected about children participating in early childhood education, their guardians, as well as the facilities and staff. The information can be used for decision-making and development work at both the municipal and national levels. The entry of information into Varda is prescribed by the Act on Early Childhood Education.
