Welcome to the Educational Services of Vörå Municipality!
For the Unique Stars of the Future
The education sector of Vörå consists of seven daycare centers, seven schools for grades one through six, Tegengrenskolan for grades seven through nine, and Vörå Upper Secondary School/Sports Gymnasium for secondary education.
We are continuously striving to develop our operations. In recent years, we have made significant investments in digitalization, and today, in both basic education and secondary education, we have a one-to-one device policy. This means every student has their own digital device for schoolwork. In early childhood education, inspiring learning environments have been created where both analog and digital materials are combined to help develop children's creative abilities.
To ensure that all children, pupils, and students are given a systematic and equal opportunity to develop their digital skills, we follow our local digital learning path. You can learn more about our digital learning path here.
We also have four tutor teachers who, together with the IT educator, support and develop pedagogical activities in the field.
Sustainable Development Learning Path
Sustainable development has been a central theme in education. To promote students' knowledge and skills in sustainable development, we have created a learning path for sustainability. The implementation of this learning path is carried out in a diverse way and, with the help of development projects, has been further emphasized in teaching. You can read more about our sustainable development learning path here.
Club Activities
Vörå offers club activities in accordance with the Finnish model at all schools. The clubs are coordinated by a club coordinator. Various clubs are arranged at the schools based on students' interests. The club activities are partly funded by project support from the Regional State Administrative Agency and the Finnish National Agency for Education.
In 2022, the Digi Adventure project was launched within early childhood education. The project's goal is to implement the digital learning path, develop innovative learning environments, and invest in the development of digital skills for both children and staff. Great emphasis has been placed on enhancing children's creativity, increasing parental involvement, and improving staff's digital competence. The project is funded with support from the National Agency for Education and the Ministry of Education and Culture.
As part of the project, a digital handbook was also created to support staff in implementing the digital learning path. The handbook is open for everyone to read. Here you can read more about the digital handbook.
In January 2023, the projects Cooperative Network Learning and New Literacy - Sustainable Development were launched. The purpose of the projects was to further implement the digital learning path, promote the implementation of the digital learning path, use innovative learning environments, and build a studio environment for educational purposes. Within the project, the Vörå Network studio has been established and the operations have been developed.
During the 2023-2024 school year, the project "Language Immersion in Vörå?" aimed to assess the interest in language immersion among the town's residents and explore the possibilities for organizing it. The project investigated whether a two-way language immersion could be feasible to provide the Finnish-speaking residents with a Finnish learning path. It was concluded within the project that there was significant interest in language immersion among the residents, but existing legislation did not allow for the integration of a Finnish learning path into it.
During the spring term of 2024, Vörå participated in the project Every Day Counts – School Engagement in Ostrobothnia. The aim of the project was to develop a regional action plan to promote school attendance and address problematic absenteeism. Vörå joined the project with the municipalities of Korsholm, Malax, Korsnäs, Närpes, and Kristinestad. The outcome of the project was a joint action plan for promoting school attendance.
In 2024, the marketing campaign “Small Steps, Big Dreams – Early Childhood Education in Ostrobothnia” was launched as a joint project with other municipalities in Ostrobothnia.
The aim of the campaign was to highlight early childhood education and its importance for society, as well as to inform about what early childhood education actually is.
The promotional videos can be watched on YouTube.
The project was funded with support from the Brita Maria Renlund Memorial Foundation.

In the summer of 2025, the podcast “Small Talk with Tindra – Early Childhood Education in Ostrobothnia” was launched as a continuation of the campaign “Small Steps, Big Dreams – Early Childhood Education in Ostrobothnia.”
The purpose of the podcast is to provide further information about early childhood education. Through the episodes, we want to inspire young people to pursue studies in the field and to show that working in early childhood education is both diverse and rewarding.
The project is carried out in collaboration with the municipalities of Ostrobothnia and is funded with support from the Brita Maria Renlund Memorial Foundation.
